Last night I woke a little after one in the morning. I felt restless, my eyes wide open. I sensed a nudge and a voice saying, pray. As I did, my husband tossed and turned next to me. A few minutes later he rose with his pillow in hand, walking out of our bedroom. I went to him and he told me he did not know why but he was unable to sleep. He planned to rest on the couch as not to disturb me.

Thick and Thin Friend
When I think of you friend my heart wants to burst. You have been there for me through it all.
From girlhood crushes to wedding days. From the dreams of yellow houses with white picket fences and true love. To the realities of labor pains and new life and crazy chaos bursting from the seams.
You have listened on the line as I’ve poured out my fears. We have grieved, we have cried. We have rejoiced, we have laughed. Until our tears have all dried and bellies both ache.

A New Song [Printable]
I have chosen a different song for each of my children. Ever since they were babies I have tucked them in with their special song. Each unique to their personality, they grow quiet when I sing. I am not a great singer. Most of the time I am way off key but they never complain.
Even so, there are many nights that I lie awake and wonder if I really know their heart song. If I am way off key in nurturing their little hearts. If I am singing of God’s perfect, unconditional love or screaming loud, my imperfect, conditional love.

Glue That Binds Our Broken Hearts

Jesus is the glue that binds our broken hearts. He takes all our tattered pieces and he constructs something new.
He takes the reds of heart break, the blues of sadness, the yellows of bitterness and He pieces us back together.
He adds purple for His power, orange for His joy and green for new life found in Him.

Beautiful Pieces
Only four, my small but mighty one. Vying for attention, a mischievous grin, he spins wild in circles and tiny pieces fly in every direction. I cease to breathe for a split second. Unintentional words and emotions fly and the mess scatters to all four corners.
