For family movie night recently we watched, “The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe”. While watching I was reminded that waiting can sometimes feel like Narnia before Aslan. Always winter and never Christmas.
This must be how those waiting for Jesus’ birth must have felt. Their hope wavering with each generation and passing year.
Now as we celebrate Advent we may feel the same ache of hopelessness. We may be in a season of waiting, relentless hardships or a deep valley of grieving. The holidays may hold the burden of past memories that are anything but joy filled.
Even so, we can rest in the hope in which Christmas holds. Jesus has come, He is with us. To take our burdens and comfort us in our waiting and our grief. He has come to bring us eternal life and joy unending. To give us hope and a future. The power of His love melting the bitter chill of winter and bringing forth the warmth and wonder of Christmas.
But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.””

Hi Heather, I had such a great visit with Robert yesterday and he talked about how the kids were growing up. Now I see for myself! I love seeing kids being creative and entering into what Christmas is truly about – Jesus, family and enjoyable crafts and baking! Your loafs look delicious. Do you mind sharing the reciepe?
